Making Tax Digital changes how records are kept, not what you owe.
That is the useful thing to understand about it. The tax is the same tax. What changes is that the records have to be digital and the filing has to come out of software, which is a setup job once, and then it is just how it works.

What is Making Tax Digital?
It is HMRC's programme for keeping tax records digitally and filing through software rather than by typing figures into a form. It already applies to VAT, and it is being extended to Income Tax in stages. The dates and income levels are on GOV.UK, and we have written them up with the source.
